Technical Theatre Workshops

On specific Tech Tuesday Nights 5:30 - 7:00 P.M.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Explore backstage creativity, design, and stagecraft.

MoCo Arts is excited to offer Tech Theatre Workshops for middle and high school students! These hands-on workshops introduce students to the world of stagecraft — the creative, technical, and behind-the-scenes work that brings every performance to life.

Whether you’re curious about props, backstage organization, stage management, or the full technical process, this program gives students the chance to learn real theatre skills in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Drop-ins Welcome

Can’t attend every session? No problem — students are welcome to drop in whenever they can.

Participating in a workshop connected to a specific show does not require you to work backstage for that production.

What Students Will Learn

Led by MoCo Arts’ Stage Manager and Props Designer, Mikey, each workshop explores essential elements of technical theatre, including:

Designing and sketching props
Prop construction and creative problem-solving
Scenic and prop painting techniques
Stage management basics
How to read and create stage management paperwork
Organizing and maintaining props tables
Spike tape etiquette and backstage communication
What it means to be a stage manager

These workshops offer students the chance to discover new interests, build confidence, and contribute to the creative process in meaningful ways.

Mikey is always excited to meet students who want to assist with crew needs for each production; however, participation is entirely optional.
