Technical Theatre Workshops

On specific Tech Tuesday Nights 5:30 - 7:00 P.M.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Explore backstage creativity, design, and stagecraft.

MoCo Arts is excited to offer Tech Theatre Workshops for middle and high school students! These hands-on workshops introduce students to the world of stagecraft — the creative, technical, and behind-the-scenes work that brings every performance to life.

Whether you’re curious about props, backstage organization, stage management, or the full technical process, this program gives students the chance to learn real theatre skills in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Drop-ins Welcome

Can’t attend every session? No problem — students are welcome to drop in whenever they can.

Participating in a workshop connected to a specific show does not require you to work backstage for that production.

What Students Will Learn

Led by MoCo Arts’ Stage Manager and Props Designer, Mikey, each workshop explores essential elements of technical theatre, including:

Designing and sketching props
Prop construction and creative problem-solving
Scenic and prop painting techniques
Stage management basics
How to read and create stage management paperwork
Organizing and maintaining props tables
Spike tape etiquette and backstage communication
What it means to be a stage manager

These workshops offer students the chance to discover new interests, build confidence, and contribute to the creative process in meaningful ways.

Mikey is always excited to meet students who want to assist with crew needs for each production; however, participation is entirely optional.

YOUNG VOICES WORKSHOP

Once a year in the spring!

GRADES 6-12

MoCo is offers a Young Voice Workshop for kids in grades 3 through 5, $75 per student for all four classes. The class will take place in Wildwood Studio.

Learn all about your voice and how to use it for musicals or singing your favorite songs! Learn the fundamentals of how to sing, how to take care of your voice, and how to make your voice stronger—all while building confidence. This fun class will allow you to try different styles of vocal music appropriate for young, unchanged voices. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in musical theatre or solo singing.

Location: Wildwood Studio
Dates: Wednesday April 15 & 22, May 6 & 13, 4:00PM to 5:00PM

Full Series: $75.00 | Sign up is required

The class will culminate with a showcase on 5/13 at 4:40 with a 15-minute presentation of the work from the Young Voice Workshop.
