College Audition Workshop

Juniors and Seniors
With Kristin O’Brien
Are you interested in pursuing a degree in theatre or musical theatre? Do you need to prepare a monologue, song, or audition tape for your college applications? Then join Kirstin O’Brien, Department Chair of Theatre and Dance for Keene State College, for our two-part College Audition Workshop to refine your craft, build confidence, and take your audition game to the next level!
This two-part workshop series is designed for high school juniors and seniors passionate about theatre and musical theatre. Sophomores will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You DO NOT need to be a current MoCo student.
Day 1 | September 28: Mastering the Audition
Discover what colleges seek in auditions and gain valuable insights on selecting the perfect monologue or song. Learn essential preparation techniques, including tips for self-tapes, to make your audition stand out.
Day 2 | October 12: Showcase and Feedback
Put your skills to the test by presenting the piece you’ve been working on. Receive constructive feedback from our experienced instructor, refine your performance, and enhance your readiness for the college audition process.
When: Saturday, September 28 & October 12 | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: MoCo Arts’ Black Box Theatre, The Founder’s Theatre 40 Roxbury Street Keene, NH 03431
Who: High school juniors and seniors. Sophomores will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You DO NOT need to be a current MoCo student.
Cost: $100. Must attend both days.

Intro to Tech Workshop
Saturday, September 14 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
grades 6 through 12
With Alex Trombly of AMT Productions
This workshop is designed to give an overview of all areas of technical support in theatre including lights, sound, video, and general stagecraft. Come learn the basics and discover how each area can come together to support a production.
When: Saturday, September 14 | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Sound for Theatre Workshop
Saturday, October 19 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
GRADES 6 through 12
With Alex Trombly of AMT Productions
Come learn about sound reinforcement for shows and the technology we use to make everyone heard, including the chance to become “mic trained!” We will also explore how music and sound can be used to take the show to the next level.

Lighting for Theatre Workshop
Saturday, November 9 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
grades 6 through 12

Get a further in-depth look at how we can use lighting to enhance a theatrical production or dance performance. We will explore different technology and design of stage lighting, and how it can be used to make the show shine.
