C.A.K.E. Summer Camp
Creative Arts at Keene
Summer Camp
Creative Arts at Keene (C.A.K.E.) Summer Camp award-winning, multi-arts summer day camps provide children and teens with the skills they need to build confidence while making friends and exploring their creativity. For over 20 years, MoCo has taken summer fun to the next level with its popular Creative Arts at Keene a.k.a. C.A.K.E. camp.
C.A.K.E. will run in-person for four weeks, from June 30 – July 25, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Students can register for one, two, three, or all four weeks of C.A.K.E. camp during the month of July (students must participate in Week 1, 2, or 3 to enroll in Week 4).
Named an outstanding summer arts program by the National Endowment for The Arts, C.A.K.E. draws students from the Monadnock Region and beyond – families are planning vacations that include C.A.K.E. (and CupCAKE!) as part of their special experience visiting the area.
One of the many things that make this camp unique is that it empowers campers to create their own experience. C.A.K.E. provides kids and teens with a unique opportunity to delve into the arts in highly personalized ways. Campers choose classes in performing or visual arts, and select from a wide range of offerings, creating their own unique full or half-day morning or afternoon schedule. From creative writing and film to chainmail jewelry design and cooking classes to creative tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons, MoCo Arts goes beyond the average camp experience, creating opportunities for students to build skills and friendships they will take with them throughout their lives.
In addition to self-directed schedules tailored to campers’ interests, C.A.K.E. students get to showcase projects they have been working on in MoCo’s black box theatre. Whether it be a new dance, a podcast they produced, a song they recently learned, a painting they would love to show, or a piece of writing they want to read, students demonstrate whatever they choose during The C.A.K.E. Mixes.
The fourth week of C.A.K.E. is Festival, an exciting time for campers filled with musicals, art exhibits, one-act plays, dance performances, and more, this is a week-long celebration of everything the campers created throughout the summer. Classes will have opportunities in performances or galas to show off their hard work and fun they’ve created throughout camp.

Auditions
Musical Theatre Jr.
This year, the Musical Theatre Jr. show will be written and directed by Madigan and Eliora from our Elementary Musical class! We are excited to share an original and fun story with our campers this summer! And it will be a story to remember. Stay tuned for more information about this original work. Actors must register for all 4 weeks of camp and commit to TWO PERIODS (2nd & 3rd) of rehearsal time, as there will be a lot to do in a short amount of time. Auditions will take place on the first day of C.A.K.E. Everyone who auditions will be cast in the show. Some audition materials will be ready before the start of camp, and all campers enrolled in Musical Theatre will be notified when these materials are ready for pick up.
Musical Theatre Sr.
This year’s Musical Theatre Sr. is Something Rotten Jr. Travel back to the Renaissance for an hour of musical comedy gold in Something Rotten! JR. Adapted from the Broadway hit that Time Out New York hailed as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years,” Something Rotten! JR. celebrates one undeniable truth: “nothing’s as amazing as a musical!” In the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. Auditions will take place on Tuesday, June 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in MoCo’s Founder’s Theatre. Everyone who auditions will be cast in the show. Some audition materials will be ready before the start of camp; all campers enrolled in Musical Theatre will be notified when these materials are ready to be picked up. Actors must register for all 4 weeks of camp and commit to TWO PERIODS (4th & 5th) of rehearsal time, as there will be a lot to do in a short amount of time. If you cannot make that date/time, please send a video to ddibenedetto@moco.org before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24. If you are not at auditions and you do not send a video in by the date listed, you can still be in our class and show, but you will not be cast in a major role. Additionally, if you cannot commit to all four weeks, we can only have you featured in the scenes and musical numbers you’re present at camp for. We want everyone to feel prepared and confident by the performance; thank you for understanding.
One Act Sr.
This year’s One Act Play is Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion by Ian McWethy. Sure, you think you’ve seen this type of murder mystery before. A cast of eccentric characters meets at a mansion, only to become suspects in a murder that a singular genius detective will eventually solve. But what happens when all the suspects are the detectives? Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew, Miss Marple, and Batman are just a few of the guests. Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion is a whodunnit that will leave you laughing and guessing right until the very end—and there are three different endings to choose from! Auditions will take place on Wednesday, June 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in MoCo’s Founder’s Theatre prior to the first day of C.A.K.E. Everyone who auditions will be cast in the show. Actors must be rising sixth-graders or older and registered for all 4 weeks (or less with permission from the Director) of camp as there will be a lot to do in a short amount of time. If you cannot make that date/time, please send a video to lcarbonneau@moco.org before 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. If you are not at auditions and you do not send a video in by the date listed, you can still be in our class and show, but you will not be cast in a major role.
