MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical Theatre, as a genre, encompasses music, dance and drama which offers students an opportunity to strengthen all these skills in one performance piece. The musical theatre class will offer its students an opportunity to rehearse Broadway shows and original musical theatre pieces and bring them to a performance level. Students of all levels of experience will work closely with professionals to develop their rehearsal and performance skills. Any student who enrolls will be given a part in the ensemble. Auditions for specific roles will be held on the first day of class. Call backs, if necessary, will be on the second class of each session. Students should expect to do a cold reading and learn a song from the chosen shows for their auditions. The directors will not expect them to know the material before hand. Extra rehearsals are customary prior to the productions. Show weekends are: January 16-18 and May 14-16.
