PERFORMANCES
2007/2008 MoCo Arts Performance Schedule
“The Tortoise vs. the Hare” - December 1, 7 PM, & December 2, 2 PM and 5 PM
This is a witty new musical version of Aesop’s famous fable. Harry Hare and her gang of “hare’s Angels” terrorize the animals of the forest until Theodore Tortoise challenges her to the most famous race in children’s literature. Children and adults of all ages will enjoy this show with music ranging from Rock ‘n Roll, to Calypso, to Jazz.
“Children of Eden” - February 2, 7 PM & December 3, 2 PM
Freely based on the story of Genesis, “Children of Eden” is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message that “the hardest part of love…is letting go.”
“Mything Links” - March 29, 7 PM, & March 30, 2 PM and 5 PM
The Trojan War is over and Odysseus wants to go home, but the Fates have other plans. Our hero bounces around the Aegean Sea finding adventures. Sisyphus and his band, The Rolling Rocks, entertain the crew, Atlas sings the “World on My Shoulders Blues,” the Cyclops warns “stay outta my face.” This musical is playful and entertaining.
“Pirates of Penzance Jr.” - May 15 & 16, 7 PM and May 17, 1 PM
Wacky, irreverent and as entertaining today as it was when it first opened in 1879, “The Pirates of Penzance” spins a hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the often-ridiculous dictates of honor and duty. |
